Telecom Users Group of India (TUGI)

The Telecom Users Group of India is a membership organization of communications users. TUGI is a non-profit, non-government organization, set up in 1997 as a registered society to take up concerns / complaints and also to influence the policy makers. A different activity of TUGI includes providing a forum for discussion on use of various communications facilities/services, which are available, in the country.

The use of these advance communication services are ideal for development for policies, equipment standards and regulation to, keep a close liaison with the Government and semi government bodies and supporting research in rural telecommunication, education and heath services. It is been generally noted that The India Telecom Users have been periodically paying higher charges with no improvement in quality of services. There is also a hindrance in free flow of network interconnection.

With the continued advancement in communication technology and with the rapid growth of voice and data services – the need arose for the national and International Communications Users Organization to collaborate more effectively in order to influence regulations, standards, tariffs and to promote freedom for the customer in regard to choice of equipment and services.

TUGI is a registered with Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and a member of CAG (Consumer Advocacy Group) set up by the TRAI and work closely with International Telecom Users Group (INTUG) and other regional users group like TUANZ and ATUG.
